Build Your Knowledge

Every learning journey starts by building a strong foundation.  Opportunities in this pathway are designed for participants that are interested in or curious about a topic or issue, but lack the experiential knowledge or understanding required in order to translate learning into practice.  This pathway is the perfect starting point for the "interested novice" to build confidence and knowledge, and serves as the basis for further professional learning.

Apply to Practice

We firmly believe that "learning by doing" applies not only to students in classrooms, but to adult learners as well.  This pathway showcases the application of learning in the classroom and "real life" situations. Participants in this learning pathway will be able to apply content knowledge to everyday teaching and learning situations.

Reflect and Collaborate

Learning need not be a solo journey! We recognize that educators benefit greatly from the opportunity to reflect on their learning, and the learning of their students. These opportunities offer supportive and highly collaborative environments where learners can share successes and pain points along their journey. This pathway celebrates collaboration with colleagues and the formation of networks and connections.

Lead and Learn

We know leaders are also lifelong learners, but recognize their unique roles and challenges in school districts.  This pathway provides the district leader with information, perspective and advice towards leading their community into sustainable practices. Leaders can wrestle with "big questions" among their peers while reflecting on the needs of all district consituents.

Are learning pathways meant to be followed in order?


Learning pathways are not meant to be strictly followed from start to finish. Rather, they provide participants with a flexible roadmap to help inform their choices over time, pace and place of learning.


How are these learning pathways different from traditional workshops or sessions?



Research shows that for certain types of learning, "stand-alone" workshops and sessions can be highly effective tools for professional development.  However, when it comes to building sustainable capacity in schools in ways that can dramatically impact student outcomes, we believe these pathways provide a "bridge to practice" beyond traditional courses.



What other learning pathways will be developed in the future?




We will be developing pathways that align with and support district technology plan goals. Learning pathways will support the topics and issues that impact our districts regionally, and content will be regularly reviewed and refreshed to ensure up to date and accurate content.




How can these pathways support professional learning in my district?





Although individuals may register for any of the pathways at will, we encourage teams within districts to spread the learning and form their own communities of practice. District instructional technology coaches and professional developers can sample content from across multiple pathways and design their own customized coaching toolkit to share with colleagues.  Teachers can use pathways to support individual professional learning goals for the year, and administrators can use pathways as part of a district professional development strategy.
